First Look: "Black Swan"

Check out the latest production by director Darren Arnonofsky (The Wrestler), Black Swan. The twisted, psychological thriller follows the journey of an aspiring ballerina (played by Natalie Portman), who quickly leaps from admiration and descends to the depths of her own hell when her dream role in Swan Lake is hijacked by a rival ballerina (played by Mila Kunis). The two start off as rivals, then try to develop a friendship, which ends with them both being entangled by their own bouts of madness and obsession over trying to outdo the other and please themselves in the process.

Leave it up to both Aronofsky a Portman to take a somewhat unoriginal theme of jealousy and madness and turn it into something that is exquisitely beautiful to watch onscreen while also being thought-provoking and sophisticated at the same time. Black Swan, which also stars Barbara Hershey and Winona Ryder, heads to theaters December 1.

Trailer does look great and appealing but somehow, I feel the film might be disappointing but that's an utterly subjective based on intuition opinion.

I love ballet movies. The trailer looks like they are trying something new, besides the same old backstage/understudy kills lead dancer plot.
