Bollywood Films and a Celebration of Asian Cinema on "Cinema In Noir"

We're celebrating Asian Pacific Heritage Month on Cinema in Noir today! On our first show back from our mini May hiatus, we chat with Mumbai Mirror columnist Aseem Chhabra about the evolution of the Bollywood film and what challenges the genre faces in the Hollywood scene. We also touch on some of the five Bollywood films currently showing at the Cannes Film Festival, including the two-part drama Gangs of Wasseypur (pictured above).

We also discuss some of our favorite Asian directors--including John Woo and Ang Lee--who have broken the mold in American film while still maintaining the essence of Asian cinema.

Additionally, we share our thoughts on trailers for the Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal-starrer, Won't Back Down, The Words (starring Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana) and Tyler Perry's upcoming Madea's Witness Protection.

And last but not least, we go over the latest casting news, including Anika Noni Rose, who will star as Thandie Newton's twin (????) in Half of a Yellow Sun. Check it all out here:
