Dwayne Johnson Stars in the Revenge Action Thriller, "Snitch" [FIRST LOOK]

After this year's earlier disappointment, Journey 2, Dwayne Johnson heads back to do what he does best--crushing heads and taking names. In the first trailer for his latest action flick, Snitch, the former wrestler plays  a father who will stop at nothing to avenge the wrongful jail sentence of his son, who was framed for a drug heist.

And Johnson shares the screen with a few familiar faces, including Hollywood heavyweight Susan Sarandon, The Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal, CSI: NY's Melina Kanakaredes, Flight's Nadine Velazquez Benjamin Bratt, The Wire's Michael Kenneth Williams and Barry Pepper, which really boosts expectations for the project. Here's a little more about it:

Inspired by true events, the fast-paced action thriller "Snitch" stars Dwayne Johnson as a father whose teenage son is wrongly accused of a drug distribution crime and is looking at a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 10 years. Desperate and determined to rescue his son at all costs, he makes a deal with the U.S. Attorney to work as an undercover informant and infiltrate a drug cartel on a dangerous mission- risking everything, including his family and his own life. The ensemble cast includes Susan Sarandon, Benjamin Bratt and Barry Pepper.

Well, if anyone could take down a dangerous drug cartel with only his fists, Johnson would certainly be up for the challenge. And if that doesn't work for audiences, I'm sure GI Joe: Retaliation (co-starring People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive Channing Tatum) will do the trick when it releases a month later in March.

I just hope the rest of the cast is at least used to their fullest potential. It's nice to see some of them break away from their small screen roles for what looks to be a big screen blockbuster, if Johnson is behind it. Ric Roman Waugh, whose interestingly most known for his stunt work, wrote and directed the film. The trailer looks promising. What say you?

Snitch heads to theaters February 22, 2013.
