If you missed the first Despicable Me movie back in 2010, you missed a helluva good time. It was like a sarcastic and wholesome melting pot of goodness (complete with feisty orphans, a criminal mastermind and a mad scientist), to be exact.
The sequel, Despicable Me 2, promises to be more of the same--but with more minions! You know, those pesky knob-like yellow thingamabobs who have their own hilarious side act going on. Looks like they'll be stealing the show this time around in the new movie, which welcomes Al Pacino as presumably the voice of the Gru's (Steve Carrell) new nemesis. Kristin Wiig and Russell Brand as Ms. Hattie and Dr. Nefario return for more shenanigans. And Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Elsie Kate Fisher are back on board as the sympathetic yet crafty kids. More on the film after the jump:
Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster, Despicable Me, delighted audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history. In Summer 2013, get ready for more minion madness in Despicable Me 2. Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedy animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions…and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.
Even though there's not much plot to go on here, it sure sounds like it's going to be just as much fun as the first one! Check out the first delightfully haunting full trailer below, which was released just in time for Halloween a few days ago:
GIMME THIS!!! Do we really have to wait until July 3rd, 2013 to see it?
