The New Teaser for "Star Trek Into Darkness" Shows Signs of a Decent Movie Forthcoming

Confession: The first J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek movie put me to sleep. I was angry about this because I  used to love the show and going in I hoped that the new millennium big screen adaptation (complete with all its special effects paraphernalia) would send it into the stratosphere. It didn't.

But flash forward to today's teaser debut of the sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, and it's full of flashy scenes, ominous gazes from the characters (played by the original crew: Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine) and what could be, possibly, an engaging movie. More on the official plot after the jump (from Collider):

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes “Star Trek Into Darkness.”

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

So....pretty much the same as the first movie? But, bigger? The cast, with the exception of Quinto, who's always winning (If you don't know this fact, check him out on American Horror Story this season), doesn't do much to sell the movie. But here's hoping this one knocks it out of the ballpark.

Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters May 17, 2013.

I was NOT a fan of the first Trek so for once we agree, but this trailer looked explosive and combative, hopefully the rest of the movie will be equally good.

This trailer got me intrigued especially with awesome sight of the Enterprise rising (or crashing) in the ocean!

I'm a life long Trek fan. The reboot film I enjoyed but like less and less as time passes. This one could be better but from this it looks like it's pretty similar to the first, I'll hold final judgement.
