First Trailer for Ethan and Joel Coen's 'INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS'
If you know anything about Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, The Big Lebowski, Fargo), better known as "The Coen Brothers," you know and appreciate the fact that they don't necessarily abide by the rules, and have essentially branded their own version of humor. And as directors, it's extremely important to have a style, a voice so to speak, that will trademark each project. And, hate them or love them (with the exception of very few films, I fall under the latter persuasion), the Coen brothers have that down to a science.
The duo's upcoming film, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, is more evidence of that. Part O Brother, Where Art Thou?, part Barton Fink, the film follows a lone and seemingly struggling folk singer (Oscar Isaac) as he navigates the 1960s.
There's not a whole lot of plot information available about it, but Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and Justin Timberlake (yeah, I know, but he did release a music video just this morning), so that should also count for something. The trailer seems very Coen-esque, but possibly with more existentialism. Check it out:
In the Coen brothers I trust (only they could get your hyped for a trailer featuring a folk musician and a cat). The clip doesn't exactly leave me too intrigued, but I remain hopeful. What say you?
INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS releases in theaters February 8th.
