Watch 5 New Clips From George Clooney's 'THE MONUMENTS MEN'

A film I've so far been less interested in is THE MONUMENTS MEN, the newest political drama from writer/director/actor George Clooney. But the more I read about it, the more my interest is piqued. That's mostly because of the all-star cast resembling a World War II Oceans Eleven crew--including Matt Damon, John Goodman, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin and Bob Balaban.

The film, which hits theaters February 7th, seems to infuse Clooney's naturally sharp brand of comedy in an otherwise dramatic backdrop, which will more than likely appeal to a wider audience. More on the film below in the official synopsis:

Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men focuses on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind's greatest achievements. Clooney's crew on The Monuments Men includes director of photography Phedon Papamichael, ASC, Oscar®-nominated production designer Jim Bissell, Academy Award®-winning editor Stephen Mirrione, A.C.E., costume designer Louise Frogley, and five-time Oscar® nominated composer Alexandre Desplat.

Grant Heslov, who co-produced the Oscar-winning film Argo, co-wrote the Monuments screenplay with Clooney. The script is adapted from the 2010 book of the same name written by Robert M. Edsel and Bret Witter.

Great stuff. Really looking forward to seeing this. I love that cast Clooney's assembled. Can the film live up to the expectation?
