When Paul Walker passed away last November, he had completed two movies that had yet to be released in the U.S.--Hours and BRICK MANSIONS (his other film, Fast & Furious 7, is still in production and scheduled to hit theaters in April 2015). Hours opened in December, while BRICK MANSIONS is on track to release this year on April 25th.
We finally get a first look at the latter film (pictured above), which stars Walker as Damien, an undercover cop investigating a Detroit crime lord. RZA plays Tremaine, the aforementioned villain who's in possession of a ticking neutron bomb. BRICK MANSIONS is the English-language remake of the 2004 French action film District B13, co-written by Luc Besson.
More in the plot summary (courtesy of ComingSoon.Net):
In the criminal underworld of Detroit, the streets are overrun with violence and drugs and the hand of corruption reaches into the lives of everyone; well almost everyone. For Lino (David Belle) every day is a fight to live an honest life. But when a drug lord kidnaps his girlfriend, Lino is forced to team up with Damien Collier (Paul Walker), an undercover cop who’s been tracking this king pin's involvement in something even more sinister – a plot to devastate the entire city. Together they uncover a trail of corruption that leads all the way to the top. "Brick Mansions" features thrilling parkour stunts paired with gripping intrigue in this explosive must-see action film.
One thing I've always said about Walker is that he was consistent. He always gave you exactly what you expected, so in a way you were always satisfied. And while RZA helmed the disappointing The Man with the Iron Fists in 2012, I am interested to see what he'll bring to a villainous role like this one.
We'll have to hold out a little longer for a trailer to see how "gripping" it looks. What do you think so far?
