I vaguely recall there being a Brian Wilson movie in the works, but I don't remember the announcement that the eternally underrated Paul Dano was going to play him. But here we are. And I'm not mad at it. Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions just released a teaser trailer for LOVE & MERCY today, which offers a brief look at the "genius, madness and music" of the lead singer of the Beach Boys.
More in the synopsis:
LOVE & MERCY presents an unconventional portrait of Brian Wilson, the mercurial singer, songwriter and leader of The Beach Boys. Set against the era defining catalog of Wilson’s music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost.
John Cusack plays Wilson at an older age in the film, which also stars Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti. The screenplay was written by Oren Moverman (The Messenger). Check out the trailer:
LOVE & MERCY is slated to hit theaters June 5. Will you watch?
