While Prisoners wasn't a perfect film, I do admire director Denis Villeneuve's vision and approach to unsuspecting thrillers--even if they spark more questions than answers. So I am definitely looking forward to SICARIO, Villeneuve's newest film that boasts an all-star cast that will debut at the Cannes Film Festival this month. More on it below in the synopsis:
In Mexico, SICARIO means hitman.
In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, an idealistic FBI agent [Emily Blunt] is enlisted by an elite government task force official [Josh Brolin] to aid in the escalating war against drugs.
Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past [Benicio Del Toro], the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive.
Check out a few images from the film:
SICARIO opens in select theaters September 18, then nationwide on September 25.

I'm excited for this. I LOATHED Prisoners, but I LOVED Enemy, so I'm in for trying this one out.
