Netlix is Aiming for World Domination

Raise your hand if you too can boast 34 Primetime Emmy Award nominations in one season, plus having filmmaker Cary Fukunaga (True Detective, Sin Nombre) and Idris Elba headline your first original film. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Netflix, the streaming service of life, is--as the kids say--killing the game. And now they've brought together one of the hottest directors and the unofficial James Bond himself for a project that will likely catapult them into the stratosphere. Or so that's the goal anyway. BEASTS OF NO NATION, which will world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and screen at Toronto Film Festival, is the upcoming drama starring Elba that is based on the the acclaimed novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala. More:

BEASTS OF NO NATION is brings to life the gripping tale of Agu, a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country. Newcomer Abraham Attah gives a stunning portrayal of Agu, while Elba dominates the screen in the role of Commandant, a warlord who takes in Agu and instructs him in the ways of war.

Thoughts? BEASTS OF NO NATION will open in 19 landmark markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Seattle, San Francisco and San Diego on October 16 and worldwide on Netflix on the same day.
