Lily Collins Goes Method in the Debut Feature from the Co-Creator of "UnREAL" and Writer of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer"
So, let's just say I have yet to warm up to Lily Collins as an actress. And that maybe the fact that her dad is Phil Collins has nothing to do with her apparently thriving career. Yeah, let's just say that.
But Marti Noxon, the woman who co-created UnREAL, the scripted TV series that manages to smartly out-parody the parody of reality shows and the who wrote a whopping 31 episodes of the Buffy, the Vampire Slayer? Now that woman has earned her stripes. So yeah, she's the reason why I am intrigued by TO THE BONE, her debut feature she wrote and direct that's premiering on Netflix July 14. Oh, and also due to the fact that it also stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie Preston, and Lili Taylor. That doesn't hurt. Check out the synopsis:
Ellen is an unruly, 20-year-old anorexic girl who spent the better part of her teenage years being shepherded through various recovery programs, only to find herself several pounds lighter every time. Determined to find a solution, her dysfunctional family agrees to send her to a group home for youths, which is led by a non-traditional doctor. Surprised by the unusual rules-and charmed by her fellow patients-Ellen has to discover for herself how to confront her addiction and attempt self-acceptance, in order to stand a chance against her demons.
Collins of course is headlining the film, reflecting a noticeable weight loss over which award shows and media will surely swoon.
I'll keep you updated as I learn more about the project, Intrigued?
